Tadej Pogačar to Race 2024 Giro d'Italia

Evenepoel, Pidcock, Yates to Join Pogacar in High-Profile Race

Tadej Pogačar, the reigning Tour de France champion, has confirmed that he will race the 2024 Giro d'Italia. The news was announced by Pogačar's team, UAE Team Emirates, on Wednesday.

Pogačar's High Earnings

Pogačar's decision to race the Giro d'Italia is a significant development, as he has previously focused on the Tour de France. However, the Slovenian's earnings suggest that he could be looking to diversify his racing schedule.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogačar is the highest earner in professional road cycling, with an estimated salary of $60-65 million USD per year. This puts him ahead of Remco Evenepoel, who is estimated to earn around $28 million per season.

Impressive Top 10 Rate

Pogačar's earnings are not only a reflection of his success in the Tour de France. Since 2019, he has finished in the top 10 in 61.1% of the races or stages he has completed. In 2023 alone, he won six one-day races.

Giro d'Italia Contenders

Pogačar's participation in the 2024 Giro d'Italia will make the race one of the most competitive in recent years. Evenepoel, Pidcock, and Yates are all expected to be contenders for the overall title.

The Giro d'Italia will take place from May 11-June 2, 2024. The route has not yet been announced, but it is expected to include a number of challenging climbs.
